Welcome to the first Al Jar quarterly newsletter of 2010. I would like to wish you all a very prosperous, happy and healthy year ahead.
With all the speculation in the market of what is and what is not under construction, I thought that we would take a little trip to Al Reem Island to seeing what is ‘Up and Running and What is Not”. We were pleasantly surprised with what we saw, even if it did almost cost us our car. One thing we can say for sure is that the infrastructure is a long way off completion with the exception of the Marina Square Development, which is almost at completion stage and ready for handover this Summer. The new road is in place and the podium has been tiled and is looking really good.
"What else is “up and running”? I think it is probably easier to answer this question pictorially so you will be able to see for yourself.
The Gate Towers are being constructed simultaneously and are all completed to the 9th floor approximately. The Arc is in a similar state.

Sun & Sky Towers are also in the final stages of completion but with no clear access presently. The close proximity of The Gate, The Arc and the Marina Diamond construction sites make it very difficult to access the towers.
Hydra Avenue, this is a huge development in the City of Lights area of Al Reem. The construction site is immense with apparently 5 buildings sharing the podium. There are 4 floors of podium and 6 upper floors already completed.

Omega and Sigma 1 & 2 Towers are also out of the ground. This is another huge construction site with hundreds of workers on site. All 3 buildings are underway. The buildings are completed to the 3rd floor.
"What else has started"?
Empire Tower is just out of the ground but work is in progess. Tameer Towers: A lot of work has been completed on the harbour wall which will form the canal between the 2 legs of the tower. The formation is now visible to the eye. The piling and ground work for the towers is completed, work will commence shortly on the body of the towers.
Amaya Towers by Dhafir has finished the podium and work is to the 6th floor. Hydra Marina Spirit is out of the ground and work is in progress, they are to the 3rd floor. Hydra Corporate is at ground level, all the piling and foundations are complete. Al Wifaq Tower in Shams is at the piling stage.
Sky Gardens: Piling and foundations are underway.
Noticibly Absent
Noticibly absent from the island are the DAMAC projects, while the hoarding and the signs are up there is no sign of activity on either the Oceanscape or the Harbour Heights Towers. The Hydra Executive Towers site is also just a great big gaping hole at the moment.
While I am sure that we did not get around to all of the sites on the island, it took over 3 hours just to get around to all of these. If there is something in particular that you would like an update on then please do not hesitate to call us. I hope that you find the above informative and wish you only the best in your new homes.
